What is a TikTok?

TikTok is an app similar to Instagram, which has become one of the most popular social networks these days. It has more than one billion downloads on the Play Store. In this article we will give you a complete tutorial of this program.

In the TikTok app, you can publish your personal videos, follow your friends, and search through millions of videos just like Instagram. If you have not used this app before, you can learn all about it by reading this tutorial.

TikTok Registration

The first time you run the TikTok program, it will ask you about your favorite styles. Options such as comedy, entertainment, talent, beauty, animals, education, and etc are available for you to choose from. By choosing them you are expressing your favorite fields and later can watch related videos in the app.

On the next page, you must specify your gender for TikTok. This is how the initial steps of registration are completed and you enter the program.

The great thing about TikTok is that you don’t have to sign up for watching videos or using some features. For example, just by going through the previous steps, ie specifying your interests and gender, you can watch videos, read comments and search for IDs or hashtags.

For other features such as sending comments, liking videos, following, etc., you need to register in the program.To do the final registration, you have to tap the Profile option in the bottom bar of the program and then select the SignUp option.

Home and Me section

The main page of the TikTok app “Home” is at the left side of the app. By visiting this page, something like Instagram feed will be uploaded for you. It is divided into two sections, Following and For You.

The Following section displays the posts that you follow their accounts. The For You section has the same function as Instagram Explore. TikTok will display the videos based on your interests.

The most important difference between feeds in TikTok and Instagram is that in TikTok you just watch videos and not photos.

Another important difference is the size of the videos. On Instagram, the videos posted by users have several different sizes, but in Tic Tac, all videos are in full screen. Other parts like captions or like icons can be seen on the video. We will introduce all these parts in the following:

ID and caption: The caption that the publisher writes for the video, along with the hashtags, are all at the bottom of the video. Also, the ID of the video publisher will be seen at the top of the caption.

Music: At the bottom of the video caption, the name and cover of the music will be displayed. You can tap the name or cover of the song to see its creator’s page. In this part, you can watch other videos made with the same music and also have access to the “Use this song” option to make a new video.

Profile photo: There are several icons on the right, the first of which is the profile photo of the user. By tapping the photo, you will see the user’s profile, and by touching the + sign, you can follow the user directly.

Likes: The heart-shaped icon is for liking videos. You can see the number of likes below the heart icon, and also like the videos by tapping this icon. The videos you like will be collected on your profile and can be viewed by other users unless you change the settings to private one.

Comment: This icon displays the number of comments posted for the post, and by tapping it, in addition to reading other people’s comments, you can also post comments.

Share: With this option, you can send links of different posts to your friends.

Me section: This section is all about your profile and is also very similar to Instagram profile. At the top of the page, you can see your photo, the number of followers, followings, likes, as well as your biography, post tabs, like tabs and your private videos tab.

Discover section

As soon as you enter this section, TikTok will show you a few random hashtags along with the related videos. But the main part of “Discover” is the search box at the top of the page. By search box you can search for everything, including IDs, hashtags, sounds,…

For example, by searching the CAT hashtag, you can view pages and videos related to cats. TikTok automatically displays your search results in the Top section, but you can also go to the IDs, videos, sounds and hashtags to view other results.

Inbox section

Like other sections, TikTok inbox section has a similar function to the Instagram notifications section. It contains various information about your account such as new follower, following, comments or likes of your posts, etc.

There is also a rocket icon in the right corner that will take you to the Direct Messages section. You can see all messages that other users send you.

Posting section “+”

By tapping this option, you will be transferred directly to the phone camera to be able to record video. Various tools and effects are available in this section so that you can record and publish your video the way you like. In addition, it is possible to use pre-recorded videos by the Upload option. Flip: Switches between the front and rear camera of your phone.

Speed: Set the video speed up to 3 times faster or slower.

Beauty: By turning this option on, your skin will be slightly retouched and smoother than normal.

Filters: By selecting this option, you will have access to several color effects for your video.

Timer: If you are alone and don’t want to record in selfie mode, this option will be suitable for you. By selecting this option, the recording will start a few seconds after pressing the button.

Duration: This option will also determine the duration of your video, which you have the choice between 15 and 60 seconds.

Effects: With this option at the bottom of the page, you have access to hundreds of different effects. By using these effects you can make attractive videos. Just select any effect, download it, check the preview, and use it for your videos.

Templates: Below the video recording button, there is another option “Templates”. You can use it to make a video mix of your photos. By selecting this option, you will have access to 12 pre-made templates for mixing photos. All you have to do is select one of them and upload the required number of photos in that template.
